Description
The St. Francis Music Society is pleased to present the opening concert of their 2020-21 concert series: Purely Romantic, featuring Nicole Harabaru, viola and violin; Andrian Harabaru, cello; and Benjamin Rollings, piano. Enjoy three masterpieces from the Romantic era including Schumann’s Märchenbilder for viola and piano. Do these character pieces depict Rumpelstiltskin or Sleeping Beauty? Schumann leaves it for the listener to decide. Brahms’s dark and expressive E minor Cello Sonata is one of the cornerstones of the cello repertoire while the warmth of Schubert’s Notturno offers a relaxing oasis amidst the troubles of our time. Program: SCHUMANN - Märchenbilder (Fairy-Tale Pictures), Op. 113 BRAHMS - Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38 SCHUBERT - Notturno in E-flat major, Op. 148 (D. 897)
