SUMMARY:Bay Shore Ballet Spring 2018 performance Coppelia
DESCRIPTION:Bay Shore Ballet\, of Fairhope\, AL\, announces its Spring 2018 performance\, Coppelia\, to be held at the Fairhope Civic Center on Friday\, April 27th(7:00 p.m.) and Saturday\, April 28th (2:00 and 7:00 p.m.). \n\n\n\nThe Coppelia ballet performance is directed by Janet Carole\, and will feature principal dancers Abigail Kiernan\, Mary Ellis Ollinger and Zackariah Woods\, as well as students of Bay Shore Ballet\, and the Bay Shore Ballet Company of Fairhope\, AL. \n\n\n\nCoppelia\, is a ballet by French composer L o Delibes that premiered in Paris on May 2\, 1870. The comedic ballet is set in a small village in France\, where Dr. Copp lius\, the eccentric town doctor\, has made a life-size dancing doll named Coppelia. He often sits her on his balcony\, positioned to look as if she is reading a book. Coppelia is so lifelike that Franz\, a village youth\, becomes infatuated with her and sets aside his true heart's desire\, Swanhilda\, with the hopes of attracting Coppelia's attention. The shunned Swahilda\, with the help of her friends\, devises a plan to show Franz his folly. Swanhilda dresses as the doll\, pretending to make it come to life and ultimately saving him from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor.
