SUMMARY:Paddle Race 2025
DESCRIPTION:This is a paddle race with distance races of 10 & 5 miles on Mobile Bay\, Alabama. $1500 in prize money will be awarded in 10 mile. A 3 & 1 mile technical course is also a highlight for both sit down and stand up water craft. Kayaks\, Outriggers and paddleboards will run the Mobile Bay shoreline offering a beautiful view of the bay and a possibly challenging combination of wind and tidal flow where 5 rivers meet the Gulf of Mexico. This is a USA SUP Southeast Regional qualifying event. $65 registration for all races combined.\n\nAll proceeds of this event are donated to the host\; American Legion Post 199 which will benefit the rebuilding project of the Hurricane Sally damage. The beach the race is conducted from is ideal for this race. \n\n The Battle of Mobile Bay was the largest and most decisive Naval battle of the Civil War\; August 5th\, 1864. USN Admiral David Farragut was informed that the Bay was mined with what were then called "Torpedoes". Farragut lashed himself to the mast of his flag ship and ordered an assault on the 31 x 24 mile bay. "Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead!"
