The YMCA of South Alabama is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 18 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Spanish Fort Town Center Park (Bass Pro Shops area). This free, annual event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy start to the summer season.
Sponsored nationally by Peanuts and Gatorade, Healthy Kids Day’s mission is to prepare local families for a safe, healthy, and fun summer. Featured activities will include bounce houses, interactive booths, youth sports demonstrations, performances, and hands-on activities from local organizations that support children and families.
“It is so important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally,” said Marissa Rennaker, Director of Development for the YMCA of South Alabama. “At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to build healthy habits year-round. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community event that connects families with activities, programs, and organizations that support kids in our area.”
Healthy Kids Day reflects the Y’s long-standing mission of strengthening communities and helping youth reach their full potential. The YMCA of South Alabama has been serving the Mobile and Baldwin County communities for over 50 years.
Locally, Healthy Kids Day is made possible through partnerships with the City of Spanish Fort and local organizations, businesses, and agencies committed to supporting youth and families. Families can enjoy bounce houses, games, interactive activities, face painting, balloon animals, and more throughout the day.
Driven by its founding mission, the Y has served as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community for more than 175 years. The Y empowers everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships, and opportunities for all to learn, grow and thrive. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives and generations, the Y’s goal is to improve overall health and well-being, ignite youth empowerment and demonstrate the importance of connections in and across 10,000 communities nationwide.
