Description
New York Times-bestselling author Bryan Stevenson will be the guest speaker at All Churches Together’s (ACT II) 25th Anniversary event at 7:30 p.m. November 3 at Fairhope United Methodist Church. Founder and executive director of the Montgomery-based Equal Justice Initiative, Stevenson is a widely acclaimed public interest lawyer who has dedicated his career to helping the poor, the incarcerated and the condemned. Under his direction EJI has won major legal challenges including the exoneration of Walter McMillian, who was wrongfully sentenced to death in Baldwin County. Much of “Just Mercy,” Stevenson’s best-selling and critically acclaimed work, takes place in Alabama and Baldwin County and details his quest for equal justice for “the poor, wrongly condemned and those trapped in the furthest reaches of our criminal justice system.” As part of the anniversary celebration, “Just Mercy” book discussion groups and events will take place in Baldwin County in October. Tickets for the Nov. 3rd event range from $10-15. To purchase tickets, or for more information about the events surrounding ACT II’s 25th anniversary, visit www.baldwinemi.org.
