Description
Restoring joy during the Christmas Season There are those among us who are grieving during this joyous season. A death or loss may have changed our experience of Christmas. Once it was a special day for us also, but someone has died or moved away; or we have lost a job, a dream, a goal, a cause; or we may grieve over what might have been. We find ourselves adrift, alone, lost, and we can’t seem to restore the feelings we had in past years during this most joyous of Seasons. Fairhope Christian Church will offer a special service at seven p.m. on Wednesday, December 20 for just this reason. The Longest Night Service is open to the public and will be held in the sanctuary of the church, 349 Fairwood Blvd., in Fairhope. The service will be led by Pastor Rick Malugani and retired pastor and hospice chaplain, Jim Clifford, who has also served as a staff member with Community Grief in Birmingham offering support group leadership and grief counseling. We invite all who have experienced a loss, or who know someone who may be struggling after experiencing a loss of any kind to this free community program, as we remember and reflect on what this “new Christmas” means to each. Please call the church at 251.928.8495 with questions or for more information. Reservations are not needed.
