General Board Responsibilities

All board members are expected to contribute to the organization's growth through several core functions:

 
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in developing and implementing the school's long-term strategic plan.

  • Financial Oversight: Monitor fiscal health and ensure resource allocation aligns with the mission.

  • Fundraising & Advocacy: Support fundraising efforts and champion the school’s vision within the community.

  • Active Engagement: Attend regular board meetings, which are held on Zoom

  • Operational Support: Commit to a minimum of five hours per week dedicated to school needs, including social media amplification and business outreach.
     

    Board Secretary (Open)

    The Secretary is the custodian of official records and ensures institutional memory through meticulous documentation.

     

  • Minutes & Notices: Drafts and circulates meeting agendas and concise minutes, capturing all motions and votes.

  • Records Management: Maintains the corporate minute book, Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and the board roster.

  • Compliance: Certifies corporate documents and ensures the board follows established Bylaws.
     

    Fundraising Chairperson (Open)

    The Fundraising Chairperson is a vital member of the board, directly responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of Anthony's School for Incredible Exceptional People. This role involves high-level strategic planning, oversight of all development activities, and engaging both the board and external stakeholders in philanthropic efforts to support students with exceptional abilities.

  • Strategy and Planning: Develops and implements a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that aligns with strategic goals and budget requirements. This includes identifying diverse funding streams such as individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and special events.

  • Committee Leadership: Chairs the Fundraising/Events Committee, recruiting and leading members to execute campaigns and special projects. The Chair ensures the board understands its collective responsibility for donor stewardship.

  • Donor Relations and Advocacy: Cultivates and stewards relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation officers. The Chair acts as an external representative, networking with community leaders to champion the school's vision.

  • Execution and Oversight: Oversees major campaigns and events to ensure they are well-planned and cost-effective. This includes collaborating on grant proposals, such as the Impact 100 grant, and managing donor database (CRM) accuracy.

  • Time Commitment: Requires attendance at all Board and Fundraising Committee meetings, with an estimated dedication of 5–10 hours per week depending on campaign cycles.

     

    Members at Large (3) (2 openings)

    Members at Large are voting board members who do not hold a specific officer title.

  • Role Flexibility: Allows members to focus on broader governance tasks or support specific initiatives and committees as needed, without the administrative constraints of an officer role.

  • General Engagement: Expected to uphold all general board duties, including strategic planning, financial oversight, and advocacy.

  • Active Engagement: Commit to a minimum of five hours of volunteer work per week.
