Description
The Mayor's office has been in contact with Santa’s head elf this morning regarding Santa’s ability to arrive for tonight's Daphne Christmas Parade. The City of Daphne and the North Pole elf administration have agreed that the parade needs to be cancelled due to the inclement weather and concerns for the safety and well-being of parade participants and attendees. “Having to cancel the Christmas Parade is a huge disappointment for our community and a setback to our holiday cheer,” according to Daphne Mayor Dane Haygood. "Keeping our citizens safe and healthy was a concern that could not be overlooked. We are excited that Santa has agreed to return the City of Daphne next Friday night for our Snow & Movie Night and help re-establish our holiday cheer."
The community is encouraged to stay off the streets tonight due to the poor weather conditions. We are hopeful that all the children in our community will stay “nestled all snug in their beds” and enjoy a restful weekend so they can make plans attend Daphne’s Snow & Movie Night next week. Next Friday’s event will feature opportunities to play in the snow at Lott Park, visit and take pictures with Santa, and enjoy Christmas movie classics on the field. Please mark your calendars for next Friday, December 15 from 4pm until 8pm. #JubileeCity #Christmas2017
