Description
Join us for this event as two of Alabama's preeminent historians will speak on Alabama's Civil War experience as part of the special educational program "The Eastern Shore: The People and the Place. This event made possible through an Alabama Humanities Foundation Grant and partnership between Historic Blakeley State Park and the Spanish Fort Public Library. Dr. Kenneth Noe, Draughon Professor of Southern History at Auburn University, will deliver a presentation based on the acclaimed book, The Yellowhammer War: Civil War and Reconstruction in Alabama. Also appearing as part of the program is Dr. Lonnie Burnett, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Mobile. A favorite of audiences across the state, Burnett will bring his special passion and deep knowledge of the history of the Mobile Bay area to bear in discussion of the Eastern Shore and environs from 1861-1865. Burnett is the author of The Pen Makes a Good Sword: John Forsyth of the Mobile Register and Henry Hotze, Confederate Propagandist.
