Description
The Maids of Jubilee are taking Fairhope “On the Wild Side” this year for their parade on Friday, February 24. “This year’s floats are bright and beautiful and all our floats have been enhanced with new sound systems, which is very exciting,” said a masker. The ladies will be riding on floats depicting various jungle animals, including zebras, cheetahs, flamingos, peacocks, giraffes, iguanas, and tigers. Permanent MOJ floats to watch for are Jubilee, Mystical Mermaids, and a float introduced last year, the Clam Shell. “This honors those who have been affected by breast cancer,” the MOJ masker said. “The rider is costumed as a live mermaid, which is fun!”
Music for MOJ will be from the Fairhope and Spanish Fort High School bands, Foley Drum Ensemble, Bay City Brass Band, Excelsior Band, and the New Millennium Band.
