The Publix Virtual Grandman

Description

The Publix Virtual Grandman is an entirely virtual swim, bike and run triathlon that allows you to complete the race on your own time and then sync your workout times to the results and leaderboard. A virtual triathlon allows anyone, with any level of experience, to compete in a triathlon at their own pace. You will have the convenience of swimming, biking and running the distance of the Grandman Triathlon on your own schedule anywhere in your community, whether it be outside or indoors. The advantage of a virtual triathlon is you can choose when and where to race!
Distance: For the Virtual Publix Grandman Triathlon you will need to complete the following distances: Swim 1/3 mile (approximately 580 yards), Bike 18.6 miles and Run 3.1 miles.
Equipment: You will need a GPS-enabled device, phone or smartwatch to record your workout. This device will enable you to record the time it takes for you to complete the triathlon distance and will allow you to upload it to our results page. Additionally, you will need the basic gear necessary to complete a triathlon, like a bike and running shoes. If you decide to complete the race indoors then you will need access to a stationary bike and treadmill. For the swim portion, you will need access to a swimming pool or a waterbody.
Course: The beauty of a virtual triathlon is being able to choose where you want to race! You can complete your triathlon wherever it is safe to do so while maintaining the recommended minimum of six feet of social distancing and abiding by all local, state and federal laws. If you are unsure where you want to race, Mobile Baykeeper will provide a few suggested race courses in Mobile and Baldwin County. This will also enable you to compare your own time on that course to others who have also completed that suggested course. A little competition never hurt nobody!
Date: We will give you a specific timeframe with which you must complete your triathlon race. If the race is not completed within this timeframe then you will not be able to submit your results.
Results: Once you completed your Virtual Grandman race you can upload your results to Active.com. We will send a link to all racers once the race begins where you can go to upload your results. Once the timeframe to complete the race is over we will make all results public so you can see how well you competed against other racers.
