MOBILE, ALA. — Thompson Holdings announced today Andy Newton has joined its Board of Directors. Newton currently serves as President of Uniti Fiber, a billion-dollar fiber-optic company headquartered in Mobile, Ala. “Andy offers a unique perspective on technology and innovation, something Thompson is very interested in,” said John Baker, Thompson Holdings CEO. “We are honored he agreed to join our board to provide advice and input on topics that will help our company continuously benefit our clients and employee-owners.”
Newton co-founded information technology company Southern Light in 1998. Under his direction as President and CEO, Southern Light grew to become one of the top 10 largest fiber-optic providers in the country. Southern Light was purchased by Uniti in 2017. “I’ve been involved in various business dealings with Thompson over the past 25 years, so I have experience with the impressive work product the company provides and the top-notch team that is passionate about providing it. I’m excited for the opportunity to be a part of Thompson as a board member.”
Newton’s term began November 11, 2024 and brings Thompson Holdings’ board count to seven. Newton joins sitting board members Thompson Holdings Chairman and CEO John Baker, Thompson Holdings Chief Legal Officer and incoming CEO Chad Brown, former Dewberry CEO Ron Ewing, former M+W Americas CEO Ron Oakley, Thompson Consulting Services Vice President Nate Counsell, and Thompson Engineering Chief Revenue Officer Mike Manning.
