Basic Residential Carpentry Program

PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP BY BALDWIN COUNTY SCHOOLS & ALABAMA HOME BUILDERS FOUNDATION

Program Specifics: Alabama Home Builders Foundation is sponsoring an five-week course offered to adult learners needing basic knowledge and skills for construction work. Enrollment is limited to people who plan on obtaining employment in the residential construction field.

The program will be taught by North Baldwin Center for Technology’s Building Construction Instructor, Scott Larson. It will be offered April 15 thru May 20.

The class will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Course Outline:
Week 1 – Basic construction tools, reading a tape measure, importance of safety/ Basic construction site layout, reading blueprints
Week 2 – Floor framing, wall framing/ Roof and ceiling framing, cutting rafters
Week 3 – Window and door installation, siding and exterior trim/ Interior trim and finishes
Week 4 – Stairs
Week 5 – Wrap up;

Certificate presentation & celebration Each class meeting will provide time for classroom instruction and hands-on time in the shop.

Expected Outcome:
Students completing the course requirements will earn valuable NCCER instruction and a certificate of completion from the Home Builders Association of Alabama.

Classes will be held at the North Baldwin Center for Technology, 505 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Bay Minette, AL.

There is a limit of 15 students per class – so it is important to get your registration materials completed and submitted as quickly as possible.
