FAIRHOPE TO BEGIN COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WITH SEPTEMBER 22nd PUBLIC MEETING

FAIRHOPE, Alabama – The City of Fairhope’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan will kick off September 22nd with a public meeting from 6-8 p.m. at the James P. Nix Center. All Fairhope residents are invited to attend.

The project involves the creation of a community-driven comprehensive land use plan for the City of Fairhope to address growth with an emphasis on environmental stewardship and legal foundation for implementation. Included in the project scope of work is plan development that envisions sustainable community growth infused with aspects of green infrastructure.

The September 22nd meeting is the first of multiple meetings that will be scheduled over the course of the next three months. Meetings will be set at locations throughout town and at times that will allow all residents to attend. Virtual options will also be available.

The community engagement portion of the project is expected to run through February 2022. Throughout the process, residents can email CompPlan@FairhopeAL.gov for more information. Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan urges all residents to plan to take part in this project that is essential to future growth in the City.

“Fairhope has experienced incredible growth in the past 10 years, and it is time for us all to take a thoughtful look at what we want our City to be going forward,” said Sullivan. “It is critical that residents, organizations, businesses and all other stakeholders in our community participate and be engaged with this process. Our team is setting up meetings, in-person and virtual, that will make it easy for you to take an hour and register your feedback.

Please take advantage of these opportunities so we can grow Fairhope together.” This project is sponsored by the RESTORE Council in cooperation with the State of Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
