SPANISH FORT, AL – (February 11, 2026) The City of Spanish Fort will officially break ground on the Valor Park project on Friday, February 13th.
The City of Spanish Fort’s new Valor Park is a symbol of the city’s growth and commitment to protecting our environment and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
Valor Park will not only stabilize the shoreline but will also provide visitors with a new, modern location to view the stunning natural scenery and wildlife around us. Once complete, this charming 2-acre park will include sidewalks, picnic tables, a large pavilion, and a viewing area overlooking Mobile Bay with the renowned USS Alabama Battleship just a short distance away in the skyline.
Through collaboration with the State of Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey, Commissioner Chris Blankenship, other lawmakers, and local leaders, the future park's construction has begun with today's groundbreaking ceremony. Through their diligence and commitment, they have assisted in obtaining GOMESA financing and matching support, which enables us to keep preserving and repairing coastal regions, boosting public access for recreation, and upgrading infrastructure. The City of Spanish Fort's long-term, multi-phase plan to expand the city's parks and recreational areas using GOMESA monies and ongoing business expansion includes the Valor Park project.
This is a historic moment for Spanish Fort and the surrounding communities. Valor Park will provide modern, usable open spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy for generations to come.
