Historic Fairhope Inn Named to Southern Living’s South’s Best Inns List for 2026

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The historic Fairhope Inn has been named one of Southern Living’s South’s Best Inns for 2026,
earning a place on the magazine’s prestigious annual list as the only Alabama property recognized in the Best Stays
category this year.
Now in its 10th year, Southern Living’s South’s Best Awards celebrate the region’s most beloved destinations and experiences. The highly anticipated awards feature a carefully curated set of categories highlighting the best of the South
across Cities & Towns, Getaways, Food & Drink, and Stays.
Among thousands of Southern destinations evaluated by Southern Living, the Fairhope Inn earned a place on the magazine’s South’s Best Inns list. In a region filled with celebrated Southern destinations, the Fairhope Inn stood out as one of
just 10 properties recognized in the category this year. The achievement marks a meaningful moment not only for the
historic property, but for Fairhope as a whole.
The award arrives alongside another honor for the community, as the City of Fairhope ranked No. 4 on Southern Living’s list of the South’s Best Small Towns for 2026. For travelers planning their next getaway, the pairing offers a compelling invitation: visit one of the South’s most charming small towns and stay at one of its most celebrated inns.
About the Inn:
Built in 1906 as a family home, the Fairhope Inn has long been part of the story of downtown Fairhope. The property became a bed-and-breakfast in 1998, and after current owner, Paige Dawson purchased the Inn in 2019, it underwent a
thoughtful renovation that refreshed the guest suites, restaurant, and courtyard while preserving the charm that has
made it a landmark for generations.
Today, the Fairhope Inn offers guests a distinctive blend of history and hospitality in the heart of downtown. The property
remains a destination not only for overnight stays but also for memorable dinners, celebrations, weddings, and private
events.
At the center of the Inn is its restaurant and Polo Bar, led by General Manager Jeffrey Mog, whose leadership has helped
shape the guest experience for more than 25 years. Together with a dedicated team in both the front and back of house,
the Inn continues to evolve while maintaining the warmth and tradition longtime patrons know and love.
The recognition also comes during an exciting chapter for the Inn’s culinary program. In July 2025, the Fairhope Inn welcomed Executive Chef Caitlin Horne, a Fairhope native whose career has taken her through acclaimed kitchens along
the Gulf Coast and in New Orleans. Her approach brings fresh perspective and refined flavor to the restaurant’s classic
foundation, with an emphasis on local ingredients, seasonal dishes, and a menu that changes weekly — earning praise
from guests, local media, and food critics alike.
“This recognition is such a meaningful honor for our entire team,” said Paige Dawson, owner of the Fairhope Inn. “We’ve
worked hard to preserve what people have always loved about the Inn while continuing to invest in its future. It’s incredibly special to see the Inn celebrated in the same moment that Fairhope itself is being recognized as one of the South’s
best small towns.”
With its historic setting, vibrant dining program, and beloved place in the heart of downtown, the Fairhope Inn continues
to stand as one of the Gulf Coast’s most distinctive destinations for travelers and locals alike.
