Infirmary Health’s pharmacy program recognized as a Certified Center of Excellence

MOBILE, Ala. (May 27, 2026) - The pharmacy program at Infirmary Health has set a new standard of care for patients in Alabama. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) approved Infirmary Health to be an ASHP Certified Center of Excellence in Medication-Use Safety and Pharmacy Practice. The pharmacy program is the first in Alabama to earn this certification, according to ASHP.

The certification is given to healthcare organizations who are demonstrating high-quality pharmacy services and patient care.

This prestigious recognition affirms we are delivering safepharmaceutical services, and it also highlights the outstanding work our team provides to the community,” said Lee Ann Cain, RPh, M.B.A., chief operating officer at Thomas Hospital and vice president of pharmacy services at Infirmary Health. “We are committed to providing the best care to our patients, and this designation proves that we are exceeding that commitment.”

Trey Gwin, a registered pharmacist and medication safety coordinator at Infirmary Health, led the team in achieving the certification following an almost year-long process.
