Mobile Symphony’s Joy to the World

Spreads Holiday Spirit Dec. 11 & 12

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will celebrate the holidays with Joy to the World, Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2:30 p.m., at Mobile’s historic Saenger Theatre. This festive concert features baritone Ricardo José Rivera and is packed with Christmas favorites and seasonal classics.

“Singing is such an important part of our holiday tradition, and this year we welcome the marvelous young Puerto Rican baritone Ricardo José Rivera to Mobile,” MSO Music Director Scott Speck says. “Ricardo joins us for a celebration of the most beloved traditional Christmas music, including some Latin holiday favorites, and even an operatic aria or two!”

MSO’s annual Christmas concerts are a Gulf Coast family tradition, and this year’s thrilling program is certain to put the entire family in a joyous holiday mood. On the classical side, the program includes selections from the Nutcracker and Handel’s Messiah. Popular carols include Silent Night, Away in a Manger and O Holy Night, a major showstopper for the talented soloist!

Tickets are on sale now for $20-$89. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 251-432-2010 or at the symphony box office, 257 Dauphin Street. Student tickets are $10. More details can be found online at www.mobilesymphony.org.

Masks or face coverings are encouraged, but no longer required for this performance. The MSO will review its COVID-19 safety policies on a concert-by-concert basis, and updates will be posted on the website: mobilesymphony.org.

Sponsors are Alabama Power, Ernestine L. Lenoir Charitable Trust, Mark & Alane Hoffman, and WKRG-TV is media sponsor.

All concerts have been made possible by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
