Two Infirmary Health Pharmacists Honored by the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists

The Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ALSHP) has recognized two outstanding pharmacists from Infirmary Health for their exemplary contributions to patient care, clinical excellence, and the advancement of pharmacy practice across the state.

The Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists is the leading professional organization representing pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents, and students who practice in hospitals, health systems, ambulatory clinics, and related clinical environments. ALSHP promotes medication safety, professional development, and excellence in pharmacy practice statewide. ALSHP awards are presented annually following a competitive nomination and review process evaluating leadership, innovation, patient-care contributions, and professional service. These statewide recognitions elevate the standards of practice, highlight the essential work of pharmacists, promote professional growth, and inspire excellence in healthcare delivery.

Outstanding New Practitioner of the Year is awarded to a pharmacist practicing 5 years or less who demonstrates exceptional professionalism, clinical excellence, and meaningful contributions to practice improvement.

HONOREE: ABIGAIL OSBORNE, PHARMD
Clinical Specialist, Thomas Hospital – ALSHP Outstanding New Practitioner of the Year Abigail has rapidly become an essential member of the ICU multidisciplinary team. Her colleagues describe her as detail-oriented, efficient, highly professional, and deeply committed to patient safety. She contributes extensively to therapeutic drug monitoring, stewardship initiatives, EPIC optimization, and pharmacy protocols. She exemplifies the
qualities ALSHP seeks to honor.

Health System Pharmacist of the Year is awarded to a non-administrative health-system pharmacist who demonstrates outstanding patient care, innovation, and professional dedication.

HONOREE: CHRISTOPHER WHITMAN, PHARMD
Infectious Disease Specialist, Infirmary Health – ALSHP Health System Pharmacist of the Year Chris leads the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and has made a measurable impact on antibiotic usage and patient outcomes across the system. Colleagues commend his innovation, collaboration, statewide influence, and mentorship of future pharmacists. His work embodies excellence in health-system pharmacy practice.
