LONG’S HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICES TURNS 75

[Mobile, Alabama] – Recently confirmed by the American Staffing Association to be the oldest, continuously family-held & operated staffing company in the United States, Long’s Human Resource Services is excited to announce that this month marks 75 years in business.

On April 19, 1948, Tom and Myrtle Long opened the doors of Long's Personnel Services in the Graystone building on St. Joseph Street in Mobile, providing job opportunities for people in the community and assisting area businesses with personnel needs. With his wife working alongside him, Tom pioneered the staffing industry. Later, his daughter, Sarah Long Damson, and her husband, Tom Damson, worked in the business and ran operations. After serving as president for 40 years, Tom Damson announced his retirement in 2014 and his daughter, Elizabeth Damson Freeman, was named president. In 2022, Liz and her husband Jud, who serves as Long's executive vice president, became full owners.

Three generations and 75 years later, our locally-owned family business has evolved into a full-service human resources firm providing temporary, contract, executive and permanent employment in clerical, industrial, professional and technical areas. The company is headquartered in Mobile and has an office in Foley servicing Baldwin County. Long’s is a Certified Woman Owned Business and is a member of TempNet, the National Association of Independently-Owned Staffing Firms, and ASA, American Staffing Association.
