NAMI Receives Generous Grant from Tri-City Community Foundation for Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Baldwin County is pleased to announce it received a generous $4,500.00 grant from the Tri-City Community Foundation for Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach.

NAMI Baldwin will use these funds to present “Ending the Silence”, an evidence-based program, to support mental health to the 3,500 7th and 8th Graders in the Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach schools. Research on “Ending the Silence” has shown it is effective in reducing the stigma of mental illness and opening a dialog to increase understanding. It also improves support to those living with mental health conditions, while decreasing negative behaviors such as shunning and bullying. NAMI Baldwin will also expand its adult support groups such as NAMI Family Support, and NAMI Connections.
