St. Michael Catholic High School Student Named National Merit Semifinalist

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — St. Michael Catholic High School is proud to announce that Timothy (Tim) Murphy has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, an honor recognizing the academic achievement of some of the nation’s highest-performing high school students.

Murphy is among more than 16,000 students nationwide selected as Semifinalists in the prestigious program. Representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, these academically talented students earned the distinction based on their performance on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The National Merit Scholarship Program provides an opportunity for Semifinalists to continue in the competition for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million.

“We are incredibly proud of Tim and this well-deserved recognition of his academic achievement,” said Dr. Andrea Williamson, principal of St. Michael Catholic High School. “His accomplishment reflects the dedication and commitment to learning that we strive to foster in our students.”

Finalists will be notified in February 2027, and scholarship recipients will be announced beginning in April.

St. Michael Catholic High School congratulates Timothy on this significant accomplishment and celebrates his continued pursuit of academic excellence.
